Powdersville, SC (September 24, 2026) – A pickup truck crash on River Road near Anderson Road in Powdersville killed one person and sent another to the hospital early Thursday, September 24. The collision happened around 1:50 a.m.
According to South Carolina Highway Patrol troopers, a 2018 Dodge Ram traveled off the roadway and struck an embankment. One occupant died at the crash site, while the other went to a hospital for treatment.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate the cause of the crash.
We offer our condolences to the family of the person who lost their life and hope the injured occupant makes a full recovery.

Once the family decides to move forward, the executor or administrator of the estate files the claim on behalf of the family members entitled to any recovery. This person manages the case and represents the interests of those beneficiaries.
In most cases, a surviving spouse or children are the ones who benefit from a wrongful death claim. If there is no spouse or child, the parents may receive compensation instead. When none of those family members survive, other heirs may be able to recover.
Depending on the case, compensation may include funeral costs, lost financial support, and the loss of companionship, care, and guidance. In some cases, a family may also be able to seek additional compensation if the conduct that caused the death was especially reckless or intentional.
Timing also plays a major role in these cases. Families generally have three years from the date of death to bring a South Carolina wrongful death lawsuit. Waiting too long can prevent the family from pursuing the claim in court.
A South Carolina wrongful death lawyer can help identify the proper estate representative, handle required paperwork, and make sure each step is completed within the applicable deadline.
