What Should I Do After a Motorcycle Crash?

After a motorcycle crash, the priority is to get medical attention as soon as possible.

Injuries may not be immediately visible, and symptoms can develop hours or even days later. Prompt evaluation at a hospital or urgent care ensures that bruises, fractures, road rash, or head and neck injuries are properly assessed. Early medical attention also provides a record of your condition, which can be important for follow-up visits or insurance purposes.

Riders often experience neck, shoulder, and back pain after a crash, even if they initially feel fine. Road rash, sprains, and fractures are common, and some injuries can worsen if left untreated. Medical professionals may recommend imaging, therapy, or referrals to specialists depending on the type of injury.

Keeping a detailed record of all treatments, medications, and follow-up appointments helps track recovery and provides useful documentation for any insurance claims.

Photos of injuries, accident scene evidence, and discharge instructions can also support a clear picture of your condition over time. Maintaining organized records makes it easier to respond to requests from insurance companies and ensures nothing is overlooked during the claims process.

You can also get in touch with a motorcycle accident attorney who can review your medical records, insurance information, and any other relevant documents to help explain possible next steps. Legal guidance can clarify what types of compensation may be available, such as coverage for medical bills, rehabilitation, lost wages, or other crash-related expenses.

Attorneys can also answer questions about timelines, required paperwork, and effective communication with insurance adjusters, helping you navigate the claims process with confidence.
