Anderson, SC (August 28, 2026) – A deputy was involved in a crash on Pearman Dairy Road and Whitehall Road in Anderson on Friday, August 28.

The Anderson Police said that the collision left both vehicles with major damage. The crash left at least one person injured, though the severity was not considered serious.

The investigation into the crash remains active.

Our thoughts are with everyone affected by the collision and those recovering from their injuries.

What Should You Know About a Claim Involving a Government Vehicle in Anderson, SC?

Deputy Involved in Crash on Pearman Dairy RdWhen a crash involves a deputy or another government employee, the claim may follow different rules than a typical car accident. South Carolina's Tort Claims Act generally applies when a government employee causes an injury while acting as part of their official duties. Under this law, a government agency may be responsible for an employee's negligence in certain situations, but the law also includes limits and exceptions.

In other words, this means that the fact that a deputy was involved does not automatically make the county or another government agency responsible. The circumstances of the crash must be reviewed to determine whether the deputy was working at the time and whether their actions could make the government liable.

Evidence can play an important role when it comes to showing how the accident unfolded. Photos of the vehicles, the police report, witness statements, medical records, and available video may help establish how the crash occurred.

As said earlier, government claims have specific rules and deadlines that can be hard to sort out alone, and a car accident lawyer can guide victims through this process. A lawyer can review the evidence and help an injured person understand whether a claim may be available and which government agency should be involved.

If you have been involved in a crash with a government-owned vehicle, our team at The Arndt Law Firm can review the facts of your case and explain how these rules may apply.
