Myrtle Beach, SC (October 1, 2026) – A motorcyclist was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 501 near Dodge Lane in Myrtle Beach on Wednesday, September 30. The collision was reported at about 3:15 p.m.
According to the Horry County Coroner’s Office, the motorcycle collided with a Toyota Tundra as the pickup was pulling out of Sparks Toyota. Horry County Fire Rescue initially reported critical injuries after crews arrived.
The motorcyclist later died from injuries sustained in the crash. Myrtle Beach-bound lanes of Highway 501 were blocked while emergency crews worked.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate what led to the collision.
We extend our deepest condolences to the rider’s family and loved ones.

When a wrongful death claim succeeds, the recovery benefits the surviving spouse and children first. If there is no spouse or child, the parents may recover, followed by other heirs when no closer family members survive.
If the person left a will, it may name the executor handling the estate. Without a will or an available executor, the probate court can appoint an administrator as the estate’s representative.
After responsibility is established, a wrongful death claim may seek compensation for lost financial support, funeral expenses, grief, and loss of companionship. The amount available depends on the family’s relationship and losses caused by the death.
Because a wrongful death claim addresses the family’s losses while a survival claim belongs to the estate, both may arise from the same crash. A survival claim may cover medical bills and other losses the person experienced before death.
In most South Carolina wrongful death cases, the filing deadline is three years from the date of death. Missing that deadline can prevent the estate from pursuing the claim in court.
When a family is unsure who should act for the estate, a South Carolina wrongful death lawyer can help determine who must be appointed and begin the claim. An attorney can also handle court filings and communications with insurers on your behalf.
