Anderson, SC (September 28, 2026) – A serious head-on wreck between two vehicles broke out in flames on Monday, September 28, on the Beltline Connector near Fritz Drive in Anderson.
Anderson Fire and emergency crews were sent after reports that both vehicles had caught fire.
Three people were reportedly trapped inside one of the vehicles, and units worked to get them out. A medical helicopter was requested due to the severity of the crash.
The investigation into the accident remains active.
Our thoughts are with everyone involved as this situation unfolds.

When a vehicle catches fire after a crash, the flames can destroy evidence that would otherwise help establish how the collision happened. Data recorders, dashboard cameras, and physical damage patterns can all be damaged or lost entirely, which makes it harder to reconstruct the sequence of events leading up to impact.
Fire investigators and crash reconstruction experts usually need to work together in these situations, since determining whether the fire started from the collision itself or from a separate mechanical issue can affect how a claim is evaluated.
Photographs and video taken by witnesses or nearby traffic cameras can become especially valuable when a vehicle's own data is compromised.
South Carolina's modified comparative negligence rule means that fault can be divided between drivers. The loss of physical evidence can make that determination more difficult for everyone involved, including insurers trying to assess a claim.
Medical records that document extrication and any injuries sustained during the rescue itself can also become an important part of the record, particularly when patients were trapped and required extended time before receiving care.
A car accident lawyer can send early requests to keep a damaged vehicle available for inspection and can coordinate with experts who understand how to interpret fire-damaged evidence.
