Two-Vehicle Crashes in Horry County
Two-vehicle accidents are among the most common calls for emergency responders in Horry County, especially along major commuter routes like Dick Pond Road, where steady traffic, commercial activity, and frequent intersections increase the likelihood of collisions. This corridor sees a mix of local drivers, service vehicles, and visitors, making even minor roadway disruptions a potential hazard for surrounding traffic.
According to recent South Carolina Department of Public Safety data, Horry County consistently ranks among the state’s highest for injury-related crashes. Contributing factors often include distracted driving, failing to yield, improper lane changes, and congestion during peak travel hours.
Even at moderate speeds, two-vehicle impacts can cause injuries such as whiplash, concussions, soft-tissue damage, and fractures, some of which may not fully appear until hours after the collision.
Investigations into two-vehicle crashes typically involve reviewing vehicle damage, roadway debris patterns, skid marks, and any available witness or driver statements. When crashes occur in busy corridors, determining contributing factors can be complex, especially if lane blockages, visibility issues, or driver behavior played a role. Insurance companies may challenge the severity of injuries or dispute liability, making the aftermath particularly stressful for victims.
For crash victims in Horry County, early medical evaluation and documentation are crucial. An attorney familiar with South Carolina traffic cases can help protect victims’ rights by securing evidence before it disappears, handling communication with insurance carriers, and ensuring the injured receive fair consideration for medical expenses, lost income, pain and suffering, and other related losses.
