Greenville, SC (September 4, 2026) – Two motorcycles went down on Highway 85 near the Lauren Road exit on Thursday, September 3, with injuries reported at the scene.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol and emergency units responded to the area to assist those hurt. Officials have not disclosed the severity of the injuries of the riders.
The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under review.
We hope for a full recovery for everyone involved.

South Carolina law does not require riders over the age of 21 to wear a helmet, though many riders choose to for safety reasons, and this choice can sometimes become a point of dispute in an injury claim.
Insurance companies occasionally attempt to argue that a rider's lack of a helmet contributed to the severity of their injuries, even in situations where a helmet would not have prevented the harm caused by the collision itself.
South Carolina follows a modified comparative negligence rule, in which an injured rider can still recover damages as long as they are not found more than 50 percent at fault for the crash. This rule matters significantly in motorcycle cases, since riders are sometimes unfairly assumed to be reckless or at fault simply because of the type of vehicle they were riding, even when another driver's actions caused the collision.
Motorcyclists involved in a multi-rider incident, where more than one bike goes down, usually face complicated fault questions, particularly when determining whether one rider's actions affected the other or whether an outside factor, like road debris or another vehicle, played a role.
A motorcycle accident lawyer can help gather witness statements and scene evidence to establish an accurate account of how each rider was affected and by what cause.
Riders and their families dealing with the aftermath of a motorcycle collision tend to benefit from having someone review the full picture of what happened before speaking with an insurance adjuster.
