Why Medical Records Matter for Injury Claims in Buffalo, SC

Injuries Reported in Two-Vehicle Crash on Duncan Ave

After a vehicle accident, not every injury shows itself right away. Soreness, headaches, and numbness can appear days later, and a person who skips treatment may find it harder to link those symptoms to what happened. Medical records create the dated, professional account that insurers tend to look at first.

In South Carolina, a person who wants to seek compensation generally has to prove both the harm and its cost. Imaging results, provider notes, and itemized bills can show what treatment was needed and what it cost, which supports a claim for medical expenses.

If there are gaps between visits, missed follow-ups, or unexplained changes in treatment, it can give an insurer room to question how serious an injury was or if it even was connected to the accident.

South Carolina allows three years to file a personal injury lawsuit, but record requests can take weeks to gather, so it can help to start early. A car accident lawyer can help request complete records, spot gaps, and organize them in a way an insurer can follow.

If you have questions about your records, our team at the Arndt Law Firm can look at your treatment history and explain how your case may develop under South Carolina law.
