Why Insurance Adjusters Ask for Recorded Statements in Boiling Springs, SC

Injury Crash on Boiling Springs Rd

After a collision, the other driver's insurance company usually calls within days and asks for a recorded statement. Adjusters work for the insurer, and the answers they collect can shape how a claim is evaluated.

South Carolina is an at-fault state, so the insurer of the driver who caused a crash generally handles claims for the other person's losses. A person is usually expected to cooperate with their own insurer, but is generally not required to give a recorded statement to the other driver's company.

Early questions can be harder to answer than they seem. Symptoms often develop days after a crash, so a quick "I'm fine" at the roadside may later be cited against a real injury.

Adjusters may also ask for broad medical authorizations that open up records unrelated to the injury, and early settlement offers may not account for future treatment. Once a settlement is accepted, the claim generally cannot be reopened.

Statements, releases, and offers all carry weight, so a car accident lawyer can review what an insurer has requested, handle communication with the adjuster, and make sure medical records are shared only as far as needed. Doing this well before South Carolina's three-year filing deadline for most injury claims leaves room to gather bills, photos, and witness details.

If you are dealing with an insurer and aren’t sure of how to proceed, we are here to help you. At The Arndt Law Firm, we can go over what an insurer has asked for and how it may relate to your claim.
