Aynor, SC (September 25, 2026) – One person was taken to the hospital after a fire caused significant damage to a home on Bay Water Drive.
According to the Horry County Fire Rescue, crews were called to the home around 2:24 p.m. Fire officials said the home sustained significant damage as a result of the flames.
The scope of the injuries of the hospitalized person has not been released. The American Red Cross of South Carolina is now assisting six people who were displaced from the home.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Our thoughts are with everyone who was displaced, and we wish the injured person a strong recovery.

Liability after a house fire generally comes down to what caused it and who had a duty to prevent that danger. If faulty wiring, a defective appliance, or a landlord's failure to maintain safe conditions played a role, the property owner, a manufacturer, or another party may bear responsibility for the damage and any injuries that followed.
In a rental property, South Carolina law places specific maintenance duties on landlords, and this includes their duty to keep electrical systems and other fire-related safety features in working order.
When a landlord ignores a known hazard, such as faulty wiring or a broken smoke detector, that failure can become central to a premises liability claim. Homeowners can also face liability if a fire spreads from unsafe conditions they created or ignored.
Determining fault commonly requires a fire investigator's report, maintenance records, and sometimes an inspection of the specific appliance or wiring involved. A personal injury lawyer can help track down this evidence and identify every party who may share responsibility.
