The crash happened around 6:35 a.m. near Ford Road. According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, a Craftsman lawn mower and a Chrysler minivan were traveling in the same direction when the minivan struck the lawn mower.
The collision pushed the lawn mower into the opposite lane, where it was then struck by a Honda Civic traveling in the other direction. The lawn mower driver died at the scene.
The crash is still being investigated.
We extend our condolences to the family and loved ones of the person who lost their life.
Families who lose a loved one in a fatal crash in Cherokee County, SC, may be able to seek damages through a wrongful death claim when another party may be legally responsible.
Potential damages can include funeral expenses, medical costs, lost income, and other losses connected to the death.
Funeral and burial expenses can create high costs for surviving family members. Keeping invoices, receipts, and other records can help document these expenses when evaluating a potential claim.
The loss of a person's income and financial contributions may also affect the family. Employment records, pay information, tax documents, and other financial records can help establish the economic support the deceased provided.
Medical expenses may be relevant when the person received treatment before passing away. Hospital bills, ambulance records, prescriptions, and other medical documentation can help establish expenses incurred following the crash.
A wrongful death claim may also involve losses that are not strictly financial. Depending on the circumstances and applicable South Carolina law, eligible family members may be able to seek damages related to the loss of companionship, support, and other aspects of the relationship.
When multiple vehicles are involved, determining which losses may be connected to each party can require a careful review of the available evidence. A wrongful death lawyer can evaluate the crash records, insurance information, financial documentation, and other evidence to explain what claims may be available.
