Horry County, SC (September 27, 2026) – A motorcyclist and passenger died after a motorcycle and SUV collided at SC-410 and SC-19 in Horry County on Saturday, September 26. The crash was reported at about 8:00 p.m.
According to Master Trooper Mitchell Ridgeway, a 2012 Harley-Davidson motorcycle was traveling north from SC-19 and attempting to cross SC-410. A 2016 Nissan SUV was heading east on SC-410 when it struck the motorcycle, causing the bike to fall onto the roadway.
The motorcyclist and passenger were taken to a hospital, where they later died. The SUV driver was injured, while three passengers sustained minor injuries. All four occupants of the SUV were also taken to a hospital.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating what caused the crash.
We extend our condolences to the families of those who died and wish the injured occupants a steady recovery.

When a will names an executor, that person may serve as the estate’s representative. If there is no executor, the court may appoint an administrator to handle the estate and bring the claim.
Compensation in a wrongful death case may include funeral expenses, lost financial support, loss of companionship, and other losses tied to the death. The amount available depends on the family’s circumstances.
After compensation is recovered, it generally goes first to a surviving spouse and children. If there is no spouse or child, the parents may qualify. Other heirs may receive compensation when none of those family members survive.
Alongside a wrongful death case, the estate may also bring a survival claim. This separate action can address losses the deceased person experienced before death, including conscious pain and other damages they could have pursued if they had lived.
Because South Carolina generally gives families three years to file a wrongful death lawsuit, it is important to keep track of the deadline. Certain circumstances may affect how much time is available.
When questions come up about who can file the claim, a wrongful death lawyer can review the family’s circumstances and determine who should serve as the estate representative. An attorney can also prepare the required filing documents and guide the family through the claims process.
