Socastee, SC (July 9, 2026) – A motorcyclist was critically injured in a two-vehicle crash on Dick Pond Road near the Socastee swing bridge on Thursday morning, July 9.
Emergency units were dispatched at 4:20 a.m. after the crash blocked all lanes. One person was taken to a nearby hospital with critical injuries.
Dick Pond Road was closed for several hours before officials reopened it at about 7:55 a.m. The people involved have not been publicly identified at this time.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate the collision.
We are thinking of the person hurt and hope they receive steady support during recovery.

After a crash, riders may suffer injuries to the head, spine, shoulders, arms, or legs. Some symptoms may not appear right away, which makes early medical care important. Medical records can also help document how the collision affected your health.
Across Socastee, roads such as U.S. 17 Bypass, S.C. 707, Socastee Boulevard, and Dick Pond Road carry steady local and commuter traffic. Heavy morning travel, tourist activity, and frequent turning movements can create added risks for riders. Drivers may also fail to notice motorcycles before changing lanes or entering an intersection.
Motorcycles are smaller than most vehicles, which can make them harder to see in traffic. A driver may misjudge a rider’s speed or distance before making a turn. Road debris, uneven pavement, and sudden stops can also cause a rider to lose control.
After your immediate medical needs are addressed, save photos, witness details, insurance information, and other records linked to the crash. These materials may help explain how the collision occurred and changed your daily life. Waiting too long can make important evidence harder to find.
During recovery, you may need to manage medical appointments, missed work, insurance calls, and daily responsibilities at once. A South Carolina motorcycle accident lawyer can review the crash, organize key records, and guide you through the claims process.
