North Charleston, SC (August 5, 2026) – A motorcyclist was injured after a driver allegedly attempted to flee the scene of a crash on Rivers Avenue near Melnick Drive in North Charleston on Tuesday afternoon, August 4.

Police said the collision began when a vehicle allegedly rear-ended a motorcycle near Rivers Avenue.

According to investigators, the motorcyclist attempted to stop the driver from leaving the scene but was forced onto the hood of the vehicle as it continued traveling to the area of Rivers Avenue and Melnick Drive. An off-duty law enforcement officer witnessed the incident, initiated a traffic stop, and assisted until additional officers arrived.

Authorities arrested Willow Amanda Brunswig, 52, of Mt. Pleasant, on charges including driving under the influence and failure to give information and render aid. Police said she refused to provide a breath sample after being taken into custody, resulting in the immediate suspension of her driver's license.
