Charleston County, SC (September 09, 2026) – A Charleston County sheriff’s deputy died in a multi-vehicle crash on Ladson Road on Wednesday, September 9. The collision shut down part of the roadway for several hours.
Emergency crews arrived to assist after the crash. The deputy’s identity had not been released by the coroner at the time of the report.
Ladson Road between Highway 78 and Lincolnville Road was closed while crews worked at the site. Deputies later confirmed that the roadway had reopened.
The circumstances surrounding the fatal wreck remain under investigation.
We extend our condolences to the deputy’s family, loved ones, and colleagues during this difficult time.

Families may also lose wages, financial support, and other household contributions the deceased would have provided. These losses may be considered when evaluating the financial effects of the death and the damages connected to a potential claim.
Along with financial documentation, evidence showing how the collision occurred can become particularly important when several vehicles are involved. Photographs, vehicle damage, roadway evidence, available video, crash reports, and other records may help clarify the sequence of events.
Under South Carolina law, a wrongful death action is generally brought by the personal representative of the deceased person’s estate for the benefit of qualifying family members. Which relatives may benefit from a claim depends on the deceased person’s surviving family relationships.
Once the available records have been collected, a South Carolina wrongful death lawyer can review the circumstances and explain which legal options may apply. An attorney may also examine available insurance coverage and help assess the financial losses resulting from the death.
