Myrtle Beach, SC – Four-Vehicle Rollover Crash on Hwy 22

Myrtle Beach, SC – Four-Vehicle Rollover Crash on Hwy 22
February 17, 2026

Myrtle Beach, SC (February 17, 2026) – A major multi-vehicle collision shut down the Myrtle Beach-bound lanes of Highway 22 on Tuesday, February 17. Horry County Fire Rescue (HCFR) was dispatched to the scene between Highway 90 and Highway 31 at 6:17 p.m. following reports of a four-vehicle pileup.

First responders arrived to find a chaotic scene with one vehicle overturned and victims trapped inside the wreckage. HCFR crews immediately launched extrication operations, using specialized tools to cut through the metal and free the occupants.

Authorities confirmed that three people were transported to local hospitals. One patient is reported to be in critical condition.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is currently investigating the cause of the crash.

Our thoughts remain with those affected as they continue to recover from their injuries.

What Should I Do if I'm Involved in a Multi-car Highway Accident in Myrtle Beach?

Prioritize medical safety first, as high-impact crashes often cause internal injuries that aren't immediately painful. Once you are stable, your main goal is to document the scene and avoid giving recorded statements to insurance adjusters until you understand how the "chain reaction" of fault is being determined.

Also, a key step is getting in touch with a lawyer, who can help you better understand your recovery options.

In a crash involving four or more vehicles, determining who is at fault is rarely simple. These incidents are usually "chain reactions" where one driver’s mistake triggers a series of collisions. Insurance companies use a process called comparative negligence to split the blame.

Even if you were pushed into the car in front of you, an adjuster might try to argue you were following too closely. Proving the exact sequence of events, such as who hit whom first, is the key to ensuring you aren't stuck paying for someone else's negligence.

With multiple drivers involved, you are suddenly dealing with multiple insurance companies, each trying to protect their own bottom line. They may reach out with a quick settlement offer before you even know the full extent of your vehicle damage or medical needs.

Having a legal team handle the paperwork and phone calls can take the pressure off, ensuring that your rights are protected while you focus on the much more important task of physical and emotional recovery.

Talking with a car accident attorney can help you understand your options and decide on the next steps after a crash.

At The Arndt Law Firm, we can guide you through the process and explain your legal options. We can help you gather the necessary evidence, manage medical bills, and ensure the insurance companies treat you fairly. You don't have to navigate the aftermath of a pileup alone.
