Longs, SC (September 29, 2026) – On Tuesday, September 29, one person was injured after a crash near Highway 905 and East Highway 9 in the Longs community.
Horry County Fire Rescue was dispatched around 7:09 a.m. Firefighters arrived to find flames coming from one of the vehicles involved. The fire was later extinguished, and the situation was reported to be under control.
One person was taken to a hospital for treatment following the crash.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol was investigating the crash, with Horry County police assisting.
We hope the injured person receives the medical attention needed and makes a full recovery.
In South Carolina, a person generally has three years to file a personal injury lawsuit after a crash. S.C. Code § 15-3-530(5) establishes a three-year limitations period for actions involving an injury to a person or another protected legal interest.
The statute also provides that the period begins when the person knew or, through reasonable diligence, should have known they had a cause of action.
For someone injured in Longs, this deadline can apply to claims involving medical expenses, lost income, pain and suffering, and other losses connected to the crash. Evidence such as medical records, photographs, witness statements, vehicle damage, and available video can help document the circumstances and resulting injuries.
South Carolina also applies comparative negligence rules in personal injury cases. If an injured person's own actions contributed to the harm, their share of fault can affect the amount of compensation available.
The three-year period is a general rule, and different requirements can apply to certain claims. Wrongful death actions, claims involving government entities, or other circumstances may have separate rules. Identifying the applicable deadline early can help preserve a potential claim.
A car accident lawyer can review the available information and discuss potential claims, insurance issues, and documented losses. An attorney may also identify additional records that could be useful as the claim develops.
