Williamsburg County, SC (July 1, 2026) – A passenger died on Monday evening, June 29, after a Jeep Patriot and a semitruck collided on Dewey Cox Road at Cade Road in Williamsburg County.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol reported that the crash happened shortly before 5:25 p.m. The Jeep was traveling south on Dewey Cox Road while the semitruck headed east on Cade Road.

Investigators reported that the Jeep tried to turn right onto Cade Road before the two vehicles collided. The impact pushed the Jeep off the right side of the road and into a ditch.

The passenger in the Jeep died at the scene. The Williamsburg County Coroner’s Office had not released the person’s name as of the latest report.

No report confirmed whether anyone else was hurt. The South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to review what led to the collision.

We offer our sincere condolences to the passenger’s family and loved ones.

How Wrongful Death Claims Work in Williamsburg County, SC

Passenger Killed in Wreck on Dewey Cox Rd A wrongful death claim in Williamsburg County usually works by collecting records, proving fault, showing the family’s losses, submitting the claim, and reviewing the insurance response. Each step helps show what options may be available.

After a fatal wreck, families often need clear documents before the claim can move forward. These may include the crash report, funeral costs, and proof of financial support. Cade Road and U.S. Route 52 carry local and commercial traffic.

When a semitruck is involved, the review can take more time. Commercial vehicle cases may include driver records, company policies, maintenance documents, and insurance coverage. Those details can help explain what happened before the impact.

Once records are gathered, the claim usually goes to the insurance company or another responsible party. The family may need to show how the loss affected them. This can include funeral expenses, lost support, and other damages.

If fault is unclear, the process can become more complicated. Insurance questions may involve more than one party after a two-vehicle crash. Clear records can help families understand where the claim stands.

During this process, a wrongful death lawyer can help your family follow each step. An attorney may review the report, organize records, explain deadlines, and handle insurance questions. That support can make the claim easier to manage.

Fatal crash cases in South Carolina often depend on timing, records, and careful review. The Arndt Law Firm helps families understand the process and decide what steps may make sense.
