Dorchester County, SC (August 25, 2026) – On Sunday, August 23, the South Carolina Highway Patrol troopers and emergency medical services responded to a fatal pedestrian crash on Interstate 26.
First responders arrived near mile marker 178 around 11:49 p.m. Investigators determined an eastbound 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee struck a pedestrian attempting to cross the interstate lanes. The pedestrian sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Jeep was uninjured in the collision.
