Aynor, SC (October 20, 2025) – A serious car accident on Highway 501 near Ridge Road in Aynor left two people critically injured on Saturday, October 18. The crash, which occurred around 3:57 p.m., involved a recreational vehicle and another vehicle, according to Horry County Fire Rescue.

Authorities reported that the RV overturned upon impact, trapping individuals inside the wreckage. Firefighters and rescue crews worked swiftly to perform extrication operations to free the victims. Both individuals sustained critical injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment. Their current conditions have not yet been released.

The collision blocked several lanes of Highway 501, causing significant traffic delays as first responders managed the scene. South Carolina Highway Patrol, along with Aynor Police and Horry County Police, were on site to direct traffic and conduct an investigation into the cause of the crash.

Initial reports have not confirmed what led to the incident, but officials are examining whether speeding, distracted driving, or mechanical failure may have been contributing factors. Motorists in the area were advised to avoid the stretch of Hwy 501 near Ridge Rd until the lanes reopened.

We wish the victims a rapid and complete recovery.

Rollover and Multi-Vehicle Crashes in Horry County

Crashes involving overturned vehicles, such as Saturday’s accident on Hwy 501, can result in devastating injuries due to the high impact and potential for ejection or entrapment. Recreational vehicles are particularly prone to instability during sudden stops, sharp turns, or collisions because of their size and center of gravity. When these vehicles overturn, the risk of serious or fatal injuries increases dramatically.

Horry County, home to some of South Carolina’s busiest highways, including Hwy 501, U.S. Rte 17, and Hwy 544, has seen a steady rise in serious traffic incidents in recent years. These roads serve as key travel corridors for locals and tourists heading to Conway, Myrtle Beach, and surrounding communities. Unfortunately, high traffic volume, distracted driving, and driver fatigue contribute to many of these preventable collisions.

In serious rollover crashes, victims often suffer from life-threatening injuries such as traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord damage, and internal bleeding. These injuries typically require long-term medical treatment and physical recovery, and can result in permanent disability. In such cases, working with our experienced car accident attorney can be essential for protecting victims’ rights and pursuing compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, and emotional suffering.

If a driver’s negligence caused a crash to happen, the injured victims and their families may be entitled to compensation through a personal injury claim. Legal representation can ensure that evidence, such as vehicle data, witness statements, and accident reconstruction reports, is preserved and used effectively to build a strong case.
