Surfside Beach, SC (December 20, 2025) – A two-vehicle crash involving a tractor-trailer left one person injured on Wednesday, December 17, in Surfside Beach. The collision happened near South Kings Highway and Catherine Avenue during the afternoon.

Horry County Fire Rescue responded at about 3:10 p.m. When crews arrived, they found an entrapped occupant. Firefighters used extrication tools to remove the trapped individual.

Paramedics then took one person to a nearby hospital. The severity of the injuries remains unconfirmed.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is leading the investigation. The Surfside Beach Fire Department and Horry County Police Department are assisting as authorities continue to review the crash details.

We wish everyone involved in this collision a full and quick recovery.

Truck and Car Accidents in Surfside Beach

Crashes involving tractor-trailers can lead to serious injuries because large trucks weigh far more than standard vehicles. When a smaller vehicle and a commercial truck collide, the force of impact can cause major damage and make entrapment more likely.

In Surfside Beach and other coastal communities, busy highways like S Kings Hwy see a heavy mix of commercial and local traffic, which can increase accident risks. Narrow lanes, frequent intersections, and high tourism traffic during peak seasons can also contribute to collisions.

Entrapment after a collision is a sign of a strong impact that crushes or blocks access inside the vehicle. Emergency crews must use specialized extrication tools to free trapped occupants. This process takes time and can delay medical treatment. Even once freed, victims may suffer broken bones, head injuries, internal damage, or severe bruising.

After a crash, injury victims often face significant financial and emotional challenges, including medical bills, rehabilitation, lost wages, and long recovery periods. South Carolina law allows injured parties to seek compensation.

Damages usually include medical expenses, lost income, pain and suffering, and vehicle repair or replacement. In truck-related crashes, liability may involve multiple parties, such as the driver, trucking company, or maintenance provider, making legal guidance even more critical.

A car accident attorney can help victims understand their rights, collect evidence, interview witnesses, and communicate with insurance companies. Legal support is especially valuable in tractor-trailer accidents, where complex regulations, commercial insurance policies, and multiple liable parties can complicate claims.

Proper legal representation can ensure victims pursue the full compensation they need to recover.
