We extend our condolences to the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives.
Families who lose a loved one in a fatal crash may face medical, funeral, and financial losses.
Depending on the circumstances, eligible family members may be able to seek compensation for certain expenses and losses connected to the death.
Medical expenses incurred before death may be part of the losses considered in a potential claim. Hospital treatment, emergency care, medications, and other medical services can create costs that families may need to document.
Funeral and burial expenses can also add significant financial pressure after a fatal crash. Keeping invoices, receipts, and other records may help establish these costs when evaluating a potential claim.
The loss of a person's income can create another long-term financial concern for a family. Employment records, pay information, tax documents, and other financial records may help demonstrate the economic contribution that was lost.
Evidence from the crash may also be important when reviewing potential legal options. Photographs, witness information, medical records, vehicle information, and available insurance documents may help provide a clearer record of what occurred.
When a tractor-trailer is involved, information about both vehicles and their insurance coverage may also need to be reviewed. A wrongful death lawyer can examine available records and explain what legal options may apply to eligible family members.
