Three-Vehicle Crash Involving Semi-Trucks Shuts Down I-85 in Anderson, SC

Anderson, SC (July 10, 2026) – All northbound lanes of Interstate 85 remained blocked for hours on Friday, July 10, after a multi-vehicle crash that involved two semi-trucks near Clemson Boulevard.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol said the crash was first reported around 4:29 a.m. Three vehicles were involved, including two 18-wheelers, and debris was scattered across the roadway.

The South Carolina Department of Transportation later confirmed a hazardous materials spill at the site, prompting a full closure and detour while crews worked to clear the wreckage. Tow trucks were called to remove the damaged vehicles.

Emergency units and highway crews continued to work on the site. The full extent of the injuries of those involved has not been released. 

Authorities continue to actively investigate.
