Richland County, SC (July 13, 2026) – A 44-year-old Blythewood resident was killed on Friday morning, July 10, after a semi-truck struck his pickup truck head-on. Emergency units responded to the accident site on McCords Ferry Road near Lake Dogwood Circle just before 10:00 a.m.

Investigators determined that a 2019 GMC Sierra was traveling north when it collided head-on with a 2020 Freightliner tractor-trailer. The pickup operator, Austin Lesane, suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene of the crash. The driver of the commercial truck was wounded and taken to a local hospital for medical evaluation.
