Two Dead in Head-On Collision on Cordova Road in Orangeburg Co., SC

Orangeburg County, SC (August 19, 2026) – A head-on crash along Cordova Road resulted in two fatalities and hospitalized another driver on Monday, August 17, in Orangeburg County. Emergency response crews and South Carolina Highway Patrol troopers responded to the crash site following reports of a severe two-vehicle collision.

According to preliminary investigations, a 2017 Honda was traveling westbound on Cordova Road when the driver attempted to pass another vehicle. As the 2017 Honda entered the opposite lane to complete the passing maneuver, it collided head-on with an eastbound 2018 Honda.

Both the driver and the passenger of the 2017 Honda sustained fatal injuries in the impact and were pronounced deceased at the scene. Paramedics evaluated the driver of the 2018 Honda, who suffered injuries during the collision, before transporting the individual via ambulance to Prisma Health for medical evaluation and care.

Troopers are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal incident.
