Florence, SC (September 28, 2026) – Two separate wrecks at the same location on Sunday, September 27, left two people with injuries in Florence.
The Florence County Fire Rescue and emergency units were called around 4:50 p.m. to southbound I-95 near mile marker 167 for a report involving an 18-wheeler and a car.
Crews found one car in the median and another on the shoulder. One person was treated and taken to the hospital for further evaluation.
While emergency units were still there, a second collision happened, and it involved two other cars. One person was reported injured and was checked by responders.
The investigation into both accidents remains active.
We are thinking of both people as they recover.

Records are usually the hardest part of a claim that involves a large commercial truck, because much of the proof sits with the trucking company rather than the injured person.
Under federal rules, carriers generally must keep driver logs and supporting documents for six months, and some data is overwritten on a routine schedule. A claim can take longer than that to come together, so timing matters.
Trucks that cross state lines fall under the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, which set hours-of-service limits, inspection duties, and driver qualification standards.
Many commercial trucks record driving time on an electronic logging device, and some also store speed and braking data in the engine's computer. Those records can show whether a driver stayed within legal driving hours and whether the truck was maintained as required. Whether any rule was broken depends on the facts, and a single record rarely tells the full story.
In these kinds of cases, several companies, insurers, and record keepers may be involved. A car accident lawyer can send a preservation letter asking a carrier to keep logs, maintenance files, and electronic data and can help decide which records to request.
Although South Carolina generally allows three years to file most injury lawsuits, preservation requests are usually sent much sooner than that to make sure evidence is not lost.
