After a crash, your medical needs may prove more serious than they initially appeared. Whiplash, concussions, and other injuries can produce delayed symptoms, making timely care and accurate medical records especially important.
Before giving a statement, take time to review what happened and avoid guessing about details you cannot clearly remember. Anything you tell the insurer may influence how it evaluates fault and the value of your claim.
As the claim moves forward, keep a record of conversations, claim numbers, deadlines, and documents you submit. Organized records can help prevent delays and make it easier to address missing information or disputes.
During its review, the insurer may examine photographs, witness statements, medical bills, repair estimates, and the police crash record. These materials can help establish fault and show how the accident affected your health and finances.
Under South Carolina law, your share of fault can reduce the compensation you receive. You generally cannot recover damages if you were more than 50% responsible for the accident.
A low settlement offer can leave important expenses unpaid. A car accident lawyer can review the evidence, calculate your losses, communicate with the insurer, and explain whether an offer accounts for your current and future needs.
At The Arndt Law Firm, we help injured people across South Carolina understand insurance claims and their legal options. Our team can examine the available details and explain how state law may affect your case.
