Florence County, SC (October 2, 2026) – Two people were hurt on Wednesday, September 30, in a two-car collision near Brookhaven.
Florence County Fire Rescue and emergency units were called to Claussen Road around 9:00 p.m. for the report.
Responders secured the scene and closed Claussen Road in both directions. The full extent of the injuries has not been disclosed.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
Our thoughts are with both people as they recover.

South Carolina law requires drivers to carry liability insurance of at least $25,000 for one person's injuries and $50,000 for all injuries combined, plus $25,000 for property damage. Uninsured motorist coverage is also required at similar minimum limits. Those figures are a floor, not a cap on what a claim may be worth.
Serious injuries can produce medical bills that exceed a $25,000 per-person limit. When that happens, underinsured motorist coverage, which South Carolina insurers must offer, may add another layer of recovery, depending on the policy.
It is important to review the declaration pages and policy exclusions after being involved in an accident. A car accident lawyer can also step in to review it and help sort out which policies may apply and in what order.
