Two Killed After Tractor-Trailer Crash on I-95 in Clarendon Co., SC

Clarendon County, SC (August 29, 2026) – Two people died on Friday afternoon, August 28, after a tractor-trailer crossed the median on I-95 in Clarendon County, struck a tree, and caught fire. The wreck happened around 3:22 p.m. between mile markers 117 and 119.

According to Clarendon County Fire Rescue, the tractor-trailer traveled from the southbound lanes across the median before entering a wooded area along the northbound side. It then struck a tree near mile marker 117.

The cab was fully engulfed in flames when emergency units arrived. Two people were trapped inside, and firefighters brought the fire under control about 15 minutes after arriving.

The Clarendon County Coroner’s Office confirmed that both occupants died. Their identities and additional information about them are expected to be released later.

The circumstances surrounding the accident remain under investigation.
