Can Families Pursue a Wrongful Death Claim After a Fatal Crash in Orangeburg County, SC?

Two Killed in Two-Vehicle Crash on SC 210 in Orangeburg Co., SC

Yes. When a fatal crash is believed to have resulted from another party's negligence, surviving family members may have the ability to pursue a wrongful death claim under South Carolina law.

These claims can help families seek compensation for losses resulting from the death of a loved one while allowing the circumstances of the collision to be more closely examined.

Fatal crashes require detailed investigations to determine how the collision occurred. Investigators may review vehicle damage, roadway evidence, witness statements, electronic data, and other available information.

This process can help establish the sequence of events and identify factors that may have contributed to the collision.

Beyond the emotional loss, families may also face financial challenges after a fatal accident. Funeral expenses, medical bills incurred before death, lost financial support, and other unexpected costs can place a significant burden on surviving relatives.

A wrongful death attorney can review the facts of a fatal collision, explain how South Carolina law may apply, and discuss potential legal options available to surviving family members.

Legal guidance may also assist with gathering evidence, reviewing insurance coverage, and determining whether a wrongful death claim may be appropriate based on the specific circumstances of the case.
