Which Mistakes Should I Avoid After a Crash in Greenville, SC?

Two Pickup Trucks Crash on White Horse RdAfter a Greenville crash, avoid leaving without exchanging information, delaying medical care, admitting fault, losing evidence, or accepting a quick settlement. These mistakes may make it harder to document what happened and seek compensation.

In the hours afterward, do not ignore pain or assume you are uninjured because you initially feel fine. Some symptoms may appear later, while medical records can connect them to the collision.

Along Greenville’s busiest roads, avoid leaving before photographing vehicle positions, traffic signs, and visible damage. Augusta Road, Laurens Road, Wade Hampton Boulevard, and White Horse Road often carry heavy traffic and frequent cross-traffic.

Under South Carolina law, avoid admitting blame or making unsupported statements about fault. Your compensation may decrease based on your responsibility, and you generally cannot recover damages if you are more than 50% at fault.

To protect important evidence, do not discard medical bills, repair estimates, wage statements, photographs, or witness details. Victims must keep these materials organized can show how the accident affected your health, finances, and daily life.

During conversations with insurers, avoid guessing about details or minimizing your injuries. Provide accurate information, keep all correspondence, and record claim numbers, representative names, and conversation dates.

Before accepting any settlement, do not focus only on your immediate expenses. An early offer may overlook continued treatment, missed work, vehicle repairs, or other losses that become clear later.

As claim disputes develop, managing every issue alone can become difficult. A truck accident attorney can review the evidence, explain available coverage, calculate losses, and address disagreements involving fault or compensation.
