What Should Families Do After a Fatal Workplace Accident in Piedmont, SC?

Worker Killed in Electrocution Accident on Hwy 86 in Piedmont, SC

After a fatal workplace accident in Piedmont, SC, families should preserve employment records, medical documentation, insurance information, and other documents connected to the worker’s death.

They may also need to determine whether workers’ compensation benefits, a wrongful death claim, or another legal option may be available.

Taking these steps early can help keep important information organized while the circumstances are being reviewed.

In addition to employment records, families should keep documentation of funeral and burial expenses, medical costs, lost income, and other financial losses resulting from the death.

Information about the worker’s position, employer, job duties, length of employment, and circumstances surrounding the accident may also be relevant when evaluating potential benefits or claims.

As the investigation continues, workplace records may provide further information about what happened.

Safety records, equipment maintenance documents, training materials, photographs, witness statements, inspection records, and reports concerning the accident may help establish the circumstances of the death and whether applicable safety procedures were followed.

At the same time, families may receive information from employers, insurance companies, or other parties involved in the claims process. Keeping copies of these communications, benefit documents, and related paperwork can make it easier to review what options may be available and identify any questions that need to be addressed.

An attorney can review the circumstances of the workplace death, explain how South Carolina law may apply, and assist with evaluating workers’ compensation or wrongful death claims based on the available evidence and specific circumstances.
