Longs, SC (November 01, 2025) – Four people were injured on October 31 in a multi-vehicle crash in the Longs community area of Horry County, South Carolina, according to officials from Horry County Fire Rescue.

The crash occurred around 10:45 p.m. on Old Highway 31, between Highways 90 and 905. Reports indicate the incident involved three vehicles, including a motorcycle, and included vehicle entrapment and an overturned car. Emergency crews responded promptly to the scene to assist the injured.

Firefighters and rescue personnel worked to extricate at least one person from a trapped vehicle. All four individuals who sustained injuries were transported by Horry County EMS to nearby hospitals for evaluation and treatment. Authorities have not yet released the severity of their injuries.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is leading the investigation into the crash, with assistance from the Horry County Police Department. Investigators are examining the cause of the collision, which may include factors such as speeding, driver distraction, or unsafe lane changes.

Our thoughts are with those injured in this crash, and we hope for their full recovery.

Multi-Vehicle and Motorcycle Accidents in Horry County

Multi-vehicle crashes, especially those involving motorcycles, pose serious risks to drivers and passengers alike. In Horry County and across South Carolina, motorcycle accidents are more likely to result in severe injuries due to the lack of protective structure compared to cars. Collisions can result in head injuries, broken bones, road rash, and internal trauma, particularly when a motorcycle is involved.

According to the South Carolina Department of Public Safety, intersection and roadway accidents are leading causes of injuries in the state, with motorcycle riders disproportionately represented in serious collisions. Common contributing factors include speeding, distracted driving, impaired driving, and failure to maintain lane control.

Multi-vehicle crashes can also escalate quickly, as secondary collisions often occur when vehicles try to swerve or stop suddenly to avoid impact.

Victims of multi-vehicle or motorcycle crashes often face extensive medical care, rehabilitation, and financial hardship. Beyond immediate treatment, long-term recovery may include physical therapy, lost wages, and emotional stress. In cases where negligence contributed to the accident, injured individuals may be entitled to compensation for medical bills, lost income, pain and suffering, and vehicle damage.
