Horry Co., SC – One Dead in Fatal Collision Involving Log Truck on Hwy 701 N

Horry County, SC (November 22, 2025) — A deadly collision involving a log truck claimed the life of a 25-year-old man on Wednesday, November 19, in the Bucksport community, according to officials. The crash occurred on Highway 701 North just before 2 p.m., prompting a major emergency response and causing extended road closures in the area.

Horry County Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard confirmed that the victim died after his vehicle collided head-on with a log truck. The impact of the crash caused catastrophic damage, and authorities reported that one occupant was ejected from the vehicle, which subsequently overturned. Emergency responders from Horry County Fire Rescue arrived quickly to begin life-saving efforts, but the injuries sustained were fatal.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol has taken over the investigation. At this time, troopers have not released additional details on the collision, and the investigation remains ongoing.
