Aynor, SC — Truck Strikes Car Near 9th Ave and Hwy 378

Aynor, SC (March 1, 2026) — Emergency responders were dispatched to a serious two-vehicle accident on Friday, February 27, involving a truck and a passenger car. The collision occurred at approximately 11:38 a.m. at the intersection of 9th Avenue and Highway 378.

Local fire crews and the police department arrived to find that a car had been rear-ended by a truck. The impact was severe enough to cause significant concern for the driver of the car, a 35-year-old person who reported experiencing numbness in their limbs and face.

EMS personnel provided immediate on-scene stabilization. Their current state has not yet been shared.

Local authorities are currently investigating the cause of the crash.

Our thoughts are with the injured person as they work on their recovery.

What to Do if You Experience Numbness After a Crash

Numbness in the face or limbs following a rear-end collision is a "red flag" symptom that often indicates a serious injury to the spine or nervous system. In South Carolina, documenting these symptoms immediately at the hospital is crucial.

Not only is this vital for your health, but it also creates the necessary evidence to prove that the "impact" caused lasting damage that the at-fault driver's insurance must cover.

Numbness or a "pins and needles" sensation often points to Whiplash-Associated Disorders (WAD) or a herniated disc. In a rear-end crash, the head is snapped back and forth, which can compress the nerves in the cervical spine (neck). If you are feeling numbness in your face or limbs, doctors will likely order an MRI or CT scan to check for nerve impingement.

It is extremely important to follow through with every specialist referral, as insurance companies often try to dismiss these "soft tissue" injuries as minor unless there is clear imaging or neurological testing to prove the damage.

In South Carolina, the driver who rear-ends another vehicle is almost always found to be at fault. This means you can seek Economic Damages for all of your medical expenses, including the ambulance ride, diagnostic imaging, and future physical therapy.

Additionally, if the numbness prevents you from working or performing daily tasks, you can recover "lost wages." Because South Carolina is an "at-fault" state, you file these claims directly against the truck driver's commercial or personal insurance policy.

Beyond medical bills, you are entitled to Non-Economic Damages for your pain and suffering. Nerve-related injuries are particularly disruptive because they can cause chronic pain, loss of grip strength, or difficulty walking. These "intangible" losses are calculated based on how much the injury has diminished your quality of life.

Finally, ensure you obtain the South Carolina Traffic Collision Report from the Highway Patrol. This report will confirm that you were struck from behind and will list any citations given to the truck driver. This document is the primary piece of evidence used by insurance adjusters to determine liability.
