Horry Co., SC — Two Hospitalized After Two-Vehicle Crash at Claypond Rd & Arrowhead Blvd
February 28, 2026

Horry County, SC (February 28, 2026) — Emergency crews responded to a major two-vehicle accident on Friday, February 27, in the Forestbrook community. Horry County Fire Rescue was dispatched to the intersection of Claypond Road and Arrowhead Boulevard at approximately 8:01 p.m.

Upon arrival, first responders found two vehicles with heavy damage. Two people involved in the crash sustained injuries requiring immediate medical attention and were transported by ambulance to a local hospital. The severity of their injuries and their current conditions have not been disclosed.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol (SCHP) is currently leading the investigation into the cause of the collision.

We wish a full and swift recovery for the two hurt individuals.

Rights After a Car Crash in Horry County

In South Carolina, if you are injured in a car accident, you are entitled to seek compensation from the at-fault driver’s insurance. Because South Carolina is an "at-fault" state, the driver who caused the collision is responsible for your medical bills and property damage. The most important part of your recovery process is understanding how "Comparative Negligence" affects your payout.

The first priority following an injury crash is securing the official South Carolina Traffic Collision Report (SCTR). This document is completed by the Highway Patrol and serves as the primary evidence regarding who was at fault. It contains diagrams of the collision, witness statements, and the investigating officer’s opinion on contributing factors like "failure to yield" or "distracted driving." Without this report, it becomes much more difficult to prove your case to an insurance adjuster.

Economic damages focus on the actual money you lose because of the accident. For those transported to the hospital, this includes the ambulance fee, emergency room charges, and diagnostic tests like X-rays or MRIs. If your injuries require follow-up physical therapy or if you miss time from work, these lost wages and future medical costs are also recoverable.

You should keep a detailed file of every medical bill and pay stub to ensure you are reimbursed for the full financial impact of the crash.

Non-economic damages address the physical and emotional toll the accident takes on your life. This includes payment for the physical pain you suffered during the impact and the ongoing discomfort of your recovery. It also covers "mental anguish," which accounts for the anxiety, sleep loss, or PTSD that can follow a violent collision.

South Carolina follows a "Modified Comparative Negligence" rule. This means you can recover damages as long as you are 50% or less at fault for the accident. If you are found to be 20% at fault for the crash, your total compensation will be reduced by 20%. However, if you are found to be 51% at fault, you cannot recover any money from the other driver.

This is why the Highway Patrol’s investigation is so critical; even a small shift in the "percentage of fault" can significantly change the amount of help you receive.

After an accident, your recovery should be about more than just physical healing; it should be about protecting your financial future.
