Beaufort, SC (February 2, 2026) – Two pedestrians were seriously injured on Saturday, January 31, after being struck by a pickup truck on Shell Point Road near Broad River Drive in Beaufort.

The crash occurred around 8:00 p.m. when a Ram pickup truck traveling eastbound hit the pedestrians along the roadway. The vehicle left the scene following the collision, prompting an emergency response to assist the injured victims.

Both pedestrians sustained severe injuries and were transported to a local hospital for treatment. Their identities and current conditions have not been released.

Authorities later located the driver involved in the crash. Officials reported that the driver was taken into custody and is facing multiple felony-related charges connected to the incident.

Investigators have not shared additional details about the events leading up to the crash.

The incident remains under investigation.

Our thoughts are with the injured pedestrians as they continue to receive medical care and work toward recovery.

Legal Options After a Hit-and-Run Crash in Beaufort

In general, options can include insurance claims through available auto policies and, in some cases, legal action once the driver is identified. Speaking with a lawyer can help clarify what steps may apply based on the circumstances.

Hit-and-run accidents frequently involve added insurance challenges. If the driver leaves the scene, injured pedestrians or occupants may need to rely on uninsured or underinsured motorist coverage, personal auto policies, or other applicable insurance.

Insurance companies typically review police reports, medical records, and any available witness statements or video footage when evaluating claims. Keeping copies of medical bills, treatment records, and insurance correspondence can help support the claims process.

Injuries from hit-and-run crashes can lead to ongoing medical needs, missed work, and changes to daily routines. Some injuries require extended treatment or rehabilitation, which can create financial strain over time.

Document medical appointments, therapy sessions, and time away from work to show how the crash has affected your daily life and recovery.

When the driver is identified, legal options may expand. A pedestrian accident attorney can explain how responsibility is typically evaluated and how claims may proceed once more information becomes available.

Legal guidance can also help families understand timelines, filing requirements, and how insurance and legal processes often overlap in hit-and-run cases.

An attorney may also assist with reviewing settlement offers, communicating with insurance companies, and ensuring required paperwork is completed correctly. This can help avoid delays and reduce confusion while victims focus on healing.
