Beaufort, SC (February 9, 2026) – Local authorities and emergency medical teams responded to a hit-and-run collision on Friday, February 6, on Robert Smalls Parkway.

A woman involved in the crash reported suffering from lower back pain following the impact. Emergency responders evaluated her at the scene before being cleared for further transport or follow-up care.

The other vehicle involved in the collision fled the area before law enforcement arrived.  The local police department is leading the investigation.

Our thoughts are with the injured woman as she recovers.

What to Do After a Hit-and-Run Accident in Beaufort

If you are involved in a hit-and-run accident, the most important steps are to call 911 immediately, document as much as you can about the fleeing vehicle (such as make, model, or partial plate), and seek medical attention even if your injuries seem minor.

Taking these actions ensures that a legal record of the crime is created and that any "hidden" injuries, such as back or neck strain, are properly diagnosed.

A lawyer helps victims of hit-and-run crashes navigate the recovery process by exploring all possible avenues for compensation. If the driver is not found, an attorney can help you file a claim through your own insurance policy’s Uninsured Motorist (UM) coverage.

They make sure that your insurance company treats you fairly and pays out the benefits you have already earned through your premiums.

Because the responsible party fled the scene, an attorney will often conduct an independent investigation to find the driver.

This includes canvassing the area for security or doorbell camera footage, interviewing witnesses who may have seen the vehicle's direction of travel, and working with local body shops to identify cars with matching damage.

By proactively searching for evidence, a legal team increases the chances of holding the negligent driver accountable for your medical bills and property damage.

What's more, professional guidance ensures that your claim is handled correctly from the start, allowing you to focus on your physical recovery while your legal interests are protected.
