Horry County, SC (October 1, 2025) – A pedestrian tragically lost their life on Tuesday, September 30, after being struck by a vehicle along South Carolina Highway 707 near the intersection with Starbuck Lake Road.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol (SCHP), the crash occurred around 4:25 p.m. when both the pedestrian and the vehicle were traveling south on SC 707. The vehicle ran off the right side of the road and struck the pedestrian.

Emergency responders pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle, who was the only person in the car, was transported to Waccamaw Hospital; their condition has not been released.

The SCHP has launched a thorough investigation to determine the exact circumstances of the crash, including whether driver error, road conditions, or other factors played a role.

Authorities urge anyone with information about the incident to come forward and assist in the investigation.
